You can subscribe starting today.
Today is the day we get a new tier of Xbox Game Pass, known as Standard Game Pass. Microsoft has begun rolling out this subscription option publicly, giving everyone the ability to subscribe for $12.99 / $14.99 per month.
As we mentioned before, the idea of Xbox Game Pass Standard is offer online multiplayer access and a large number of Game Pass titles for a lower price than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
However, the game library remains rather good: includes a full list of 369 titles at launch.
“Looking to enhance your Xbox console gaming experience at an incredible value? Then Game Pass Standard may be just what you’re looking for. In addition to all the benefits you get with Game Pass Core, including online multiplayer for consoles and member discounts, you’ll get access to hundreds of high-quality console games in the Game Pass library. Legendary series like Halo or Age of Empires and popular titles like Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege are ready to play. Dive in and discover your next favorite game today.”
If you want to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Standard and already have an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription, the time you have left will become a 3:2 ratio. So, for example, 90 days of Core will become 60 days of Standard, which seems quite reasonable to us.
Of course, this means there are now four tiers of Xbox Game Pass you can subscribe to: PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Core, Xbox Game Pass Standard, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. We still think the first and second offer the best value for money, but all four have their pros and cons, as you can see above in Xbox Europe’s tweet.
