Josef Fares was the creator of It takes two, the game proclaimed of the year at the Game Awards gala. Lately we have seen many companies implementing the practice of NFT in their video games, to which Fares has provided direct feedback.
A while ago we saw games of the stature of Tracker 2 and businesses of the caliber of Ubisoft
Josef Fares, NFT Policy Critic in Video Games
During an interview at The Washington Post, Josef Fares had a conversation on this topic. First of all, Josef clarified that for him video games are first an art form, then a business. He also conceded that if you ask another CEO what he is saying, he’ll tell you that Fares is dumb because the first thing companies want to do is enjoy their games.
He didn’t just talk about NFTs, but also service games. Recognizing that they are a big problem for the video game industry, as it becomes a habit to launch incomplete games and ask players to pay a premium to fully enjoy the experience. Something he recognized that he and his company would never do.
Any decision you make in a game that you design to force the player to pay or do something to trigger that action. In my opinion, this is very wrong.
