Nightdive Studios leaves us with new images of the classic survival horror
This happened at publisher DreadXP’s Indie Horror Showcase, where Night diving studio showed a new gameplay trailer for The Remastered Thinga review of the original Xbox survival horror classic. In the video you can see the desperation and terror of the team at research station number 31.
It is a remaster of the cult 2002 survival horror game, released for the original Xbox, Playstation 2 and Windows PC, with enhanced graphics, inspired by the 1982 film starring Kurt Russell. This adaptation was able to very well capture the atmosphere of terror that we could see in John Carpenter’s film.
Nightdive Studios has updated this terrifying classic for the modern era with its proprietary engine COOKIES for playing on current generation gaming devices up to a resolution of 4K at 120 FPS. Improvements to character models, textures and animations were created by hand, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects.
In the frozen Arctic tundra, a mysterious shapeshifting alien has wiped out the crew of a research facility and players step into the shoes of Captain JF Blake, the leader of a US Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the grisly events that occurred. Happened in the original The Thing movie.
Trapped by the elements and at risk of being infected by a horrible entity, Blake must keep his team together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring their fear and paranoia don’t get the better of them…or himself.
