Nightdive Studios has made a habit of remastering cult classics. recently brought us Dark Forces Remastered and plans to release another later this year. Of course this will have an enhanced re-release of the game The thing from 2002, from developer Computer Artworks. And although The thing: remastered It will not be, as the name suggests, a remake, Nightdive says that we can expect a very significant improvement.
In fact, recently speaking with GamesRadarLarry Kuperman, director of business development at Nightdive Studios, said that The thing: remastered It will “fulfill” the “original vision” of Computer Artworks, the studio behind the original game, as it will not be limited by the technological restrictions of the original.
“[Computer Artworks] “I was very, very happy, and rightly so, with the game that they produced, but they were also aware of the limitations, of the things that they couldn’t do just because the technology, the game engine, wasn’t taking care of it,” Kuperman said. “And, without going into too much detail, without spoiling, there are some things that we were able to achieve with the developers’ original vision. “It’s something that’s really important to us.”
Kuperman added that although The thing: remastered will have many improvements in gameplay, it will also play like you remember from the original game. “The game will play the way you remember the original game, but that’s not how it was played,” he said. Something that will undoubtedly greatly enhance the experience.
The thing: remastered will be released later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
