It is not common to receive news of studies that integrate people into their work team. The most common thing these days is to read that there have been massive layoffs or a studio closing, but for CD Project Red it seems like things are very different. And after the launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 The studio will now focus fully on the new opus of The Witcher.
According to Adam Kiciński, CEO of the company, from January 1 he will take up another position in the studio where he will work on the new installment of The Witcher, currently under the name “Polaris”. In the advertisements he stated that The team grew to develop this game, reaching 400 collaborators. But that’s not all, since CD Project Red will also begin development of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel in mid-2024.
The Witcher returns and CD Project becomes stronger
In the interview, Adam Kiciński denied that the development of the new The Witcher is in an advanced phase, this latest effort will therefore consist of refining all the details and preparing a triumphant announcement for one of the most famous wizards in video games. This, yes, says that the announcement of a release date is not yet considered, it therefore appears that development is in an intermediate phase.
This expansion movement does not mean that they are looking to acquire other studios to move forward more quickly. The CEO himself confirmed this, since his future plan is not to be a company dedicated to acquiring others, nor by being sold to a larger company. CD Project Red will remain an “independent” studio with its own activities.
