Last month, the Xbox Series hit a major sales milestone in Japan. Microsoft’s consoles seem to be starting to take off in Japan and that’s a good thing for Phil Spencer and his team. And especially good for Game Pass, as consoles are a good gateway for the service which can then be rolled out to mobile and PC.
The era of consoles is gray for this type of machine. In Japan, mobile and PC have considerably imposed themselves
The Xbox Series continues to improve its data in Japan
So you will understand that given the current situation of lack of stock, increased components and a time when consoles are not the preferred option to play in the country, today’s data is particularly important to Microsoft and its proposal.
And it is that thanks to Famitsu it has published the cumulative sales data of the consoles, and The Xbox Series has exceeded 300,000 Xbox machines sold. This is added to the Model S and Model X, and gives an actual figure of 301,548 consoles. The list looks like this:
- Switch OLED model – 31,275 (2,223,821).
- Switch – 15,988 (18,598,486).
- PlayStation 5 – 14,609 (1,607,405).
- Switch Lite – 11,133 (4,862,082).
- Xbox series S – 4,984 (157,017).
- Xbox Series X – 4,836 (144,531).
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 1,046 (258,831).
- New 2DS LL (including 2DS) – 152 (1,188,420).
- PlayStation 4-13 (7,819,824).
It’s particularly interesting to see how, despite not being the Japanese’s preferred next-gen option, the Xbox Series ranks among the top and has managed to close the gap between Sony and Microsoft that existed in the last generation. As data, in the last generation, there was an estimated ratio of 80:1 in favor of Playstation; now the ratio is about 6:1.
