Retro Games announces fully licensed remake of the popular 16-bit home computer: THEA500 Mini.
Continuing the popular line of timeless console classics being brought to life, Retro Games today announces the development of THEA500 Mini, a fully licensed remake of the popular 16-bit home computer with a wealth of classic Amiga games.
THEA500 Mini will be released in early 2022 and pays homage to the 1980s, the heyday of 16-bit computers; inspired by the 1987 release of the Amiga 500, which included a 16/32 bit CPU, 512 KB RAM and a range of custom chips for the production of first class sound and video.
Owners of the THEA500 Mini can play one of the 25 included classic Amiga games, which they can choose from an easy-to-use menu carousel, including classics such as Another World, Simon The Sorcerer, The Chaos Engine and Worms.
Or they load their own games via USB stick with full WHDLoad support and a range of options to choose from. In addition, owners of the THEA500 Mini can save and continue their game at any time so that they can play even the most difficult classics to the end.
Retro Games Ltd. THEA500 Mini developed and distributed by Koch Media offers the perfect emulation not only of the original A500 (OCS) and the Enhanced Chip Set (ECS) of future versions, but also of the Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA) of the A1200.
The THEA500 Mini comes with the 2-button mouse in the original design and the newly developed 8-button precision gamepad, so that owners of the THEA500 Mini can choose their control method themselves. To complement the screen keyboard, owners of the THEA500 Mini can connect an external standard PC keyboard to use additional functions.
“With this first mini version of THEA500, we have created something that we believe game fans will love and see as the evolution of mini game consoles,” said Paul Andrews, Managing Director of Retro Games.
“Retro Games have developed a truly unique product,” said Debbie Bestwick MBE, CEO of Team 17, “and I am delighted that our classic games are presented in all their original glory.”
THEA500 Mini will be available in stores in early 2022 at a suggested retail price of GBP £ 119.99 / EUR $ 129.99 / USD $ 139.99 / AUD $ 199.99.
