We were all surprised by Obsidian Entertainment’s proposal, Pentiment. I admit that I still have to get serious about it because I have half finished it. But there’s no doubt the industry was clamoring for games like this that were risky and different, and critics rewarded it with high ratings and pretty good word of mouth.
The director of this madness is none other than Josh Sawyer, Lead Designer of Icewind Dale II, of Neverwinter Nights 2 and perhaps the head of design and production of Fallowt New Vegas. There is nothing. So with his track record, it was easy to give him at least a chance.
Repentance has always been a closed story
However, if you were expecting a sequel… sit down, I have bad news. And it’s that the producer of the game considers that it’s good like that, and wants to leave it closed. confirmed it on his Tumblr account
But Palimpsest is nothing more than the codename of the game, we see that this name could have legal and security problems, and Microsoft suggested a legal change. So if you were expecting something similar to Pentiment, unfortunately it looks like it won’t happen
The original non-working Pentiment title was actually Palimpsest! Microsoft’s legal department detected a possible difficulty obtaining this name, so I renamed it Pentiment.
And no, I have no intention of doing any sort of sequel, spiritual or otherwise, to Pentiment. I always thought of it as an independent story. It may inspire ideas (hopefully not just for me!) in the future, but I’m happy with what we have.
