This year’s Game Awards show has set a number of other new records in addition to a new audience record.
This year’s edition of the Game Awards managed to set an impressive new record in terms of viewership.
The show, which was held in front of a live audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, was full of music performances, celebrity guests, award ceremonies and game revelations and reached 85 million live stream views worldwide via video and social media platforms.
Thus last year’s record of 83 million viewers was exceeded by two million. Compared to the show from 2019 (45.2 million viewers), the number of viewers almost doubled.
The event’s official YouTube stream also set a new record. This comes to a total of 1.75 million hours of playback time, which is an increase of 14 percent compared to the previous year.
In addition, the number of fan votes cast for the various award votes increased by 27 percent to 23.2 million votes cast.
“We are grateful that we were able to return to a live audience event in 2021 and continue our success with significant international growth in 2021,” said Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley.
