Three unannounced projects in the making

Making, projects, unannounced

Apparently, Bloober Team has three unannounced games up and running under different project names.

Bloober Team is busy producing new games and currently has three unannounced projects in development. This information is so far unconfirmed, however, the code names of the individual games have already been leaked through the media program “Creative Europe” in the European Commission.

The project names leave plenty of room for speculation and even a new Layers of Fear 3 is being considered.

The code names are: H2O, BLACK and Dum Spiro. Many players suspect that H2O is Layers of Fear 3.

The first details are also known about the entries, which may make the guesswork a little easier:

H20 – The success of Layers of Fear on the market, as well as players’ continued interest in a sequel, convinced Bloober Team to begin work on another game in the series. H2O (working title) will be a hidden horror game designed to offer high quality and polished gameplay. Hidden Horror combines the two most important aspects of a game from the player’s point of view: a high level of emotions during the game and a unique, engaging story. The core goal of the design team is to create a game world based on selected aspects and ideas from the original Layer of Fear.

BLACK – The gameplay is presented from a first-person perspective and is a mix of exploration, survival and combat. The player explores the world by exploring the environment, interacting with the characters and participating in story-driven set pieces. As the story progresses, the player influences the narrative by making a series of moral choices that lead to one of at least two endings. Occasionally, the player is involved in hand-to-hand combat. Although the fights are sparse and sometimes optional, they always present a challenge and build the tension, as befits a survival horror game. The hero is constantly outnumbered or overpowered and can easily perish if not careful. If combat is not an option, players simply need to stay alive in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. They can achieve this by secretly avoiding their opponents, improvising or outmaneuvering them. These sections, including the alien enemies encounters, are there to add tension and add a much-needed sense of horror to the game.

Dum Spiro – Dum Spiro is a horror game whose title comes from the Latin phrase “dum spiro, spero” – it means “as long as I breathe, I hope” and expresses the main theme of the game: that people still face certain death are able to decide about their lives, define its meaning through their actions towards the end and even symbolically defeat evil. The story takes place in the years 1941-44 in the Litzmannstadt ghetto – a ghetto for Polish Jews established during World War II, the second largest ghetto in all of Germany-occupied Europe. Although at first glance the game looks like it is being portrayed from the first person perspective (from the main character’s point of view), the aim and main differentiator of the game is to destroy what is known as the “fifth wall” that keeps the player away from the presented story separates (in order to make him a recipient instead of a full participant). Unique aspects of the game focus on increasing immersion by creating a sense of the player’s responsibility for the characters’ actions by giving them the freedom to make all the decisions in the game while also evaluating their effects.

With the description, a Layers of Fear 3 should be safe. Furthermore, one of the two projects could be converted into a new Silent Hill. Finally, the rumors persist that Bloober Team is developing the next installment in the series for Konami, which is why a new official partnership has been entered into.
