Total War Warhammer IIIit’s the end of the magnificent crossover developed by the legendary Total War strategy saga and the no less classic fantasy universe War hammer. Six years ago we experienced the beginning of this trilogy, in which the best strategy was combined with a world that deserved to be recreated on this scale.. And it is that, since its first opus, Creative Assembly has shown absolute care for the franchise. It made the leap to this fantasy universe quite simply a success.
Adapt the races, heroes and legends of war hammer It was titanic work. However, the study seems to have enjoyed these 6 years of travel. Proof of this is this third part, in which the studio closes the trilogy in a superb way. With a small change of perspective, Total War Warhammer III, blows us up in the Chaos campaign. In other words, this latest version will focus only and exclusively on these races, giving us new mechanics and a much more developed story. Before giving way to the analysis where we will detail all the virtues of this version, we remind you that you can enjoy it thanks to the Xbox Game Pass for PC. Now yes, internal analysis !
Corruption creeps in
From the first moment, the game puts us in the situation, warning us that Chaos and the warp are doing their thing. Subduing in this case the people of Kislev, specifically imprisoning their deity, Ursun.
With this exciting prologue, we return to a campaign mode that continues to be ruled by the excellence of the saga. In other words, a tactical map where you can make decisions and manage colonies, heroes, armies and of course diplomacy. In this sense, if you have followed the last stages of the saga You’ll feel right at home as the system continues to be tweaked more and more, showing improvements that make its interface more user-friendly. Likewise, its campaign mode, in which we can choose up to 8 different armies, follows the thread of what was shown in the prologue, showing us a campaign where the desire for power and Chaos are very present.
Variety is a win
Without a doubt, one of the great achievements of the saga is to include armies that are not limited only to including new units. Each of the eight armies that make up the team in this episode is unique. So, if we look in more detail we will see that we will have at our disposal Kislev, Great Cathay, Ogre Kingdoms. While in the forces of Chaos we will have the Demonios del Caos, Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Each of them, as I said be fore, has unique mechanics, which will make each game totally different.
In addition, as is customary in the saga, each race will have a different difficulty. Thus being the recommended races to start the Daemons of Chaos or Kislev. Both factions have a much friendlier start than the others as well as simpler mechanics. Going into more detail, we find that Chaos Daemons can honor different Chaos Gods for different upgrades as they see fit. In these improvements we find the possibility of having different parts for our daemon. To be able to create an authentic avatar of terror.
These possibilities are present in each of the races, i.e. it is very difficult for the player not to find a race that suits his style of play. Without a doubt, one of the great virtues that the appearance of this spin-off of the classic strategy saga has brought with it. This generates that the replayability of the title is capitalized.
great battles
In the continuity of this line, we find something that has been a house brand for years: its battles. And it is that, without a doubt, one of the most special points of the franchise are those battles where thousands of units fight on our screens for our pleasure. Fights that shine brighter and brighter, thanks to the attention to detail trademarked by the company. The graphical part is always superb, with a breathtaking level of detail, not only for the modeling of the units, but also for their animations. Manage to recreate spectacular fights in this way. Special mention for the battles of the demonic portals, which highlight certain battles against demonic princes which will be a challenge for the player.
Accompanying this section we continue to have a great job in the sound aspect. The clashes of cavalry, the cries of battle, the sounds of hordes of bloodthirsty demons, are a luxury. In the same form, the narrator who will accompany us throughout the campaign will speak to us in complete Spanish.
As for the gameplay of the battles, the changes are minimal. We understand, however, that it is a little understandable since the formula of the saga is extremely polished. However, the combat stratagems are still very present and we widen the horizons and the possibilities with these new armies. Similarly, heroes continue to change the tide of battles through their impact on them. The only downside is that the seats still seem a little fiddly so far.
Taste Chaos with friends
In addition to all this, there is a multiplayer system that continues to evolve. Addition to the classic campaign mode for games of up to 8 playerswhere we can enjoy simultaneous turns, which the saga already does Civilization for example. While it is true that we missed that this third part merges with what was seen previously. That is, giving free rein to a macro campaign where we have endless races and enjoy the ultimate experience. Although not currently implemented, the study claims to work there.
Once this feature arrives, we will be faced with a literally huge title. However, the experience we currently have is still amazing. Counting as they say with greater narrative weight, equally deep combat, and a few races that are the most interesting to date. Without a doubt, this third installment is a must for strategy fans.. Plus, with it coming to Game Pass, it’s a fantastic opportunity to try it out.
Without further ado, we would like to thank the team at Cosmocouver by the code of this analysis. Don’t forget that you have a lot more analytics here.
