West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle, Britain's longest route, has been added to Train Sim World 5.
British fans of Train Sim World 5 can embark on one of the longest journeys in the game with the next route add-on. West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle covers almost 100 miles of the route between Preston and Carlisle, also including Lancaster and the Morecambe Branch Line on the coast.
The journey covers the dramatic rural landscape of this part of the North West, including the challenge of Shap Summit at 279m above sea level.
Landmarks such as Lancaster, Carlisle and Preston train stations are fully recreated in their late 1980s condition, as is the M6 motorway and the retro traffic that travels along it, for example at Tebay.
Developed by partner program developer Just Trains, this route is reminiscent of the era of BR Blue and various locomotive-hauled trains.
The star of the route is the introduction of a new locomotive to the game: the Class 87. Other locomotives previously introduced include the Class 47, 08 and 101 DMU.
New cars and carriages are pulled from a varied schedule, allowing players to operate many different types of trains from this era.
If you have other compatible add-ons in your collection, you can also add other classic diesel locomotives such as the Class 45 or steam locomotives such as the Flying Scotsman to the timetable.
The route also features conductor mode, fast travel and route hopping features as part of Train Sim World 5's core functionality.
Unique features of this route include the collectible cake and posters, the fully modeled signal boxes and the improvements to the Class 101 DMU, which incorporate the latest in-game chassis physics.
