The Frostpunk 2 The development team is excited to offer players the chance to return to the unforgiving Frostlands and take a look at our ambitious sequel, which will pit you against the need to survive as well as the new, deadly threat to human nature and its unquenchable thirst for… confront power. The beta features a part of the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder Preview.
While the original Frostpunk Launched without sandbox mode, it quickly became one of the community’s top requests. That’s why we introduced Endless Mode, which allows players to expand endlessly. Seeing players spend 500+ hours in the game was truly inspiring for us.
From the start, we knew that a variation on sandbox mode was essential Frostpunk 2. How we believe Frostpunk 2 represents a significant advancement for the franchise, as every aspect of the game needed to be expanded. Our goal was to infuse the sandbox experience with a richer narrative and other unique, specific aspects Frostpunk 2.
Thirty years after the Great Storm that concluded the plot of the first game, humanity has partially tamed the weather. This creates a snowstorm in a sequel that is even bigger than the one in the first Frostpunk would not feel satisfying, creative or exciting to you as a player. It is impossible to tell the story of societal change in ambition without changing the scale. Thus, the flow of time in the game changes from hours and days to weeks, months and years, and players oversee the creation of entire districts, with an emphasis on survival and shaping society. Frostpunk 2 continues the approach of being a “society survival” type strategy game, but also places greater emphasis on how that society is formed.
With no immediate pressure to survive, citizens began to think about a different future, leading to different visions between factions. As the new Steward, you are tasked with building a council that represents these factions. The ideological conflict is also present in Utopia Builder’s preview mode, challenging players to reconcile conflicting interests and navigate societal complexities.
Mismanagement can lead to disaster, while the uncontrolled development of ambitions can lead to social conflict. Ultimately, human nature can lead to the downfall of the city, with one person’s utopia becoming another’s dystopia.

Beta access and early access versions of the game will be available exclusively to players who pre-ordered the deluxe package. Beta access includes a limited, 7-day access to part of the game’s sandbox mode (Utopia Builder) in April 2024. Frostpunk 2: Deluxe Edition gives you early access to the story 72 hours before the game’s full release -Mode.
