The adventure Twin Mirror published by Dontnod Entertainment has so far only been able to recoup 75 percent of the expenses.
With the psycho-adventure Twin Mirror released at the end of November 2020, developer Dontnod Entertainment was unable to inspire either the gaming press or a large number of players.
As the French development studio has now announced, only 75 percent of the production investments for the title have so far been recovered. Due to various factors, a large increase in the numbers was not expected in the future.
The studio identified the reasons for the failure in a market that was saturated at the end of 2021 and the sudden shutdown of the Chinese market, which is not expected to change in the medium term.
The action role-playing game Vampyr, also developed by Dontnod, can show strong numbers. Since its release in 2018, the vampire title has sold two million copies and has also been downloaded eight million times for free as part of an Epic Games Store promotion.
For 2022, Dontnod Entertainment plans to increase its RPG capacities in order to advance the development of the action role-playing game currently known as “Project 8”. In addition, one would like to expand its activities as a publisher.
