Mark Steggall: Why Campus?
Craig Laycock: Well it’s an attitude we’ve wanted to play around with since the studio was born! Education, like healthcare, is something we’re all familiar with, isn’t it? As in Two Point Hospital, we wanted to turn this familiar environment upside down, give it a comedic twist, throw in a few puns – and have a really fun, deep, and addicting management simulation under the hood.
Markus Steggall: Is it set in the same world?
Craig Laycock: Yes, the familiar, yet highly unusual, world of Two Point County! That means familiar characters you might have seen in Two Point Hospital Could return, from the radio DJs to the announcer … check out this room.
Markus Steggall: What’s new in the game?
Craig Laycock: We always listen to our players. We also spent a lot of time watching players play Two Point Hospital on livestreams and we love the incredibly creative environments people come up with.
It was therefore very important to us to give the players even more power to completely design their game world.
We’re no longer limited to our wall layouts, we’re adding new creative tools to help you build your own buildings, add exterior components, and make your levels look the way you want – whether outside or inside your building walls.
That said, landscaping items like trees, paths, picket fences, and more are all in the game now, so you can design the entire campus experience inside and out.
Markus Steggall: What about your students?
Craig Laycock: One of the things we really wanted to focus on too campus took care of the little people in your game world. With campus, you’ll be spending much longer with the people in your game – full academic years – which leads to a closer bond.
You need to make sure they have everything they need to study hard and play hard – be it the best library in town or the best DJ decks in the student lounges!
And your students will have traits, personalities, and even relationships that develop as the game progresses. Will your knights get along with your goths? Is there love in the air?
Markus Steggall: And the courses, probably not your usual courses?
Craig Laycock: You guess correctly! The courses are, much like the illnesses in the hospital, completely crazy. From the knight school to the gastronomy we pack Two point campus with some of the best word games (or worst, depending on your perspective)!
You need to build the right equipment, make sure you have the right staff, and help your students give the best they can be.
