One of the great forerunners and benchmarks of open worlds, currently being rebuilt, began creating new tools that would help developers create stories faster. Apparently, a new artificial intelligence is being developed by Ubisoft to generate audio and phrases in NPCs in the company’s games.
According to the study, Ubisoft Ghostwriter will be the new AI that will help developers simplify their work and make it easier to create stories. The intention of this, it seems, is to avoid repetitive work in this section of development, so several elements that we see in the future will surely have interesting patterns in the dialogues of each sub-story.
Introducing Ubisoft Ghostwriter, an in-house developed AI tool that aims to help our writers by generating the first draft of our NPC barks – the phrases or sounds that NPCs make when players interact with the game world .
The creation of games in mass, the objective of Ubisoft
The French publisher is currently not in the best position vis-à-vis its market. Additionally, it has several internal issues that could seriously affect the production of future games. Although this will not have any real impact on the number of games released, it is possible that the quality will drop significantly.
On the other hand, and knowing Ubisoft’s fame with open worlds, this new AI will be a great help in creating larger worlds faster. Quality is always in question, but we can’t stop thinking how good this implementation sounds in the gaming industry.
This tool was created hand in hand with the scriptwriters to create more realistic NPC interactions by generating variations in some of the dialogue. See how our teams will use AI to manage repetitive tasks and free up time to work on other key game elements
