Hello, everyone! I’m Martin, the developer of the brand new indie action roleplaying game park history. I’m very excited (and a little nervous!) to announce that the game is now available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It is also available on Windows.
park history is inspired by action RPG classics but tells a new, modern and strange story about Parker. One night, Parker crashes her car into the park and is trapped. After chatting up a stray cat, Domino, they realize they’ve forgotten everything about their lives before the crash.
This sets off our adventure as Parker desperately tries to find a way back to a life they are beginning to remember. But they are not alone. The demon raven Caim has taken control of the park and doesn’t give his new visitor a warm welcome. Along with his six generals, Caim sets out to stop Parker from escaping or helping the animals and spirits left behind.
I started to work park history almost five years ago. I had gone down an internet rabbit hole to look up the scale of famous video game worlds versus real-world locations. I ended up comparing some to some local country parks (a large Scottish park, usually with a few family attractions like a zoo or museum) and that gave the idea. A large overworld action RPG set in a Scottish country park. That is park history.
It was supposed to be a six-month project, but video game development turns out to be quite difficult. Who knew!?
Over the past five years I’ve built this whole little world for parkers and players to explore, which is really exciting. The overworld has fifteen different areas, each with its own theme and packed with hidden secrets. You’ll discover caves with skill upgrades and alternative paths in the park leading to special combat challenges.
I like to say that each of the game’s dungeons are handcrafted. There is nothing procedural in the game. Instead, each dungeon has its own set of puzzles wrapped around its theme. However, a dungeon would not be complete without a final boss. This is where Caim’s generals come into play. These six maybe people were sent to destroy Parker. Everyone brings their own challenge.
History is a big part of what matters park history. Parker has her own problems, but the park’s animals will urge her to defeat Caim, banish evil, and restore order. Caim too has his own plan that extends beyond the park walls. Demons don’t take well to puny humans trying to meddle, and Parker will find out.
The back and forth of Parker’s old life, the park’s animals and the danger of Caim never ends. At the end of the game you have a big decision to make – if you survive!
It’s been a long road to release park history. I have to say a big thank you to the friends, family and others who helped make this a reality. I also have to thank the team at [email protected] for helping a very, very, very independent developer bring their game to Xbox.
Park Story is available now. If you want to join the adventure or see more gameplay footage, visit the game’s store page. The park is a big place and I hope the story it has to tell will resonate with many people.
I’ll see you in the park.

Unravel handcrafted puzzle dungeons and face your demons in Park Story – a reimagining of the classic top-down action RPG. Trapped, Parker must defeat Caim to escape the haunted Mahagow Glen Country Park, help friendly spirits with unfinished business, and uncover the park’s deepest mysteries. CRASH INTO A NEW ACTION RPG ADVENTURE Tires squeal and a car crashes into an abandoned park on a rainy night. Parker crawls out of the rubble and finds himself trapped in a forgotten place, writhing in the grip of the demonic raven Caim. The enemy may be a great President of Hell, but Parker will discover they have demons of their own. MEET THE ANIMALS AND GHOSTS LEFT BEHIND There is no way out unless Parker follows the lead of the Lairds – the park’s animal parliament. Parker must decide whether wildlife wearing vests can be trusted. It’s not the only quest. Ghosts roam the park with their own unfinished business and only Parker can help. EXPLORE DESERTED MAHAGOW GLEN COUNTRY PARK Explore a vast overworld filled with mysteries, hidden caves and eerily familiar attractions. Discover more as the mystery unfolds, taking you deeper and deeper into the park. SOLVE HAND-CRAFTED PUZZLE DUNGEONS Venture into unique dungeons, each with its own puzzles to solve. TRANSFORM INTO THE ANIMALS OF THE PARK Parker needs more than two legs to defeat Caim. Take on the forms of the Lairds – a squirrel, a fox, a duck and a dove. Use their natural gifts to crawl, dig, swim and fly to the road home. BATTLE THE DEMON RAVEN CAIM AND HIS GENERALS Caim did not come alone. His generals lurk in the dungeons. As twisted versions of their former selves, they opened the gate for Caim. You will do whatever it takes to ensure that others suffer the consequences.
