Valve has its own custom layer for be able to run Windows games on Linux. It’s called Proton, and that’s basically what it’s for. In case you don’t quite understand it, it’s like a kind of operating system that allows games to run on Linux and SteamOS, the company’s operating system, based precisely on a Linux fork.
Valve has opened up a new channel so some users can test out new builds of Proton, something like the Xbox Insider system, but tailored to Gabe Newell’s company needs.
Proton supports 14 new games
Well, now with Proton 7.0-5, those at Bellevue have added performance improvements through Proton Next, as well as support for 14 new games which are named as Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Call of Duty Black Ops II or Final Fantasy IV (3D Remake).
