The sequel to the hardcore side-scroller Volgarr the Viking will be released in August for consoles and PC.
More than a decade after Crazy Viking Studios’ debut of Volgarr the Viking, which sold more than a million copies on PC and consoles, the barbarian king’s adventure continues in an uncompromising new form on August 6, 2024.
Set against the backdrop of new and larger than ever worlds inspired by the Norse peoples, Volgarr the Viking II ramps up the hardcore 2D sidescrolling action of the original in an expanded odyssey where each playthrough is more gruesome than the last.
As the great warrior Volgarr, you must choose your actions wisely when entering battle, for precision is everything. One wrong move can mean a one-way ticket to Valhalla. Jump, duck, glide and dodge to avoid deadly enemies while keeping an eye on the threats around you.
While the sequel features the same relentless 1980s arcade difficulty as the original, Volgarr is now a little older, his muscles have shrunk, and he graciously welcomes some new features that won’t upset the arthritis: a practice mode, checkpoints, save profiles, and unlimited continues – but at what cost?
