Tour is the new game published by Xbox Games Studios and developed by Stoicknown for giving life to the three parts of The Banner Saga. This time, we are faced with a somewhat special title, which mixes the gameplay of a beat’em up with RPG elements. First of all, I want to clarify that I was able to test a previous version in Early Access on Steam, so the quality is not representative of the final version and that bugs and lack of content are things to be expected. Early Access officially starts on September 10th.

The Towerbone Story

The story of Support tower it’s practically an apocalypse. The world lived in peace, peacefully populating the fields, mountains, etc., until monsters appeared and invaded the territory. Little by little, through multiple battles, they managed to They cornered humanity to live in a tower called the Bell Towerthe last hope.

Our character is one of the defenders of the placeAn ace is reborn with the skills to turn the tables. Little by little, we will advance in the reconquest of the world, learning more about the monsters and their origins.

The gameplay is very complete

The gameplay of Support tower fr very simple, but no less complete. To have four classes choose, which, in the absence of a Spanish translation, would be Sentinel, Pyroclast, Rockbreaker and Shadowstriker. Each focuses on a different playstyle, with distinct skills and stats as well as a distinct level. With Sentinel, we carry a sword and shield, we can block and parry, although the damage is not the most powerful. Pyroclast uses a mace, which he can also use to execute fire attacks. Rockbreaker uses his strength to strike his enemies with special fists and Shadowstriker has unusual agility, which he combines with two fast daggers.

Each class can only access one type of weaponbut they can share the rest of the equipment. On the other hand, each equipped weapon has its own passive abilities and effectsso we have many possibilities to create powerful synergies, there are even differences between equal weapons. For example, we have two identical staffs, but one of them increases the damage by a few percent while the other increases the critical. Weapons and armor also have a level, which we can increase thanks to the blacksmith in the tower, although we will also get equipment and various objects in the missions. Finally, there is the Umbra, quite cute creatures that will accompany us on our adventure and provide us with special attacks and various effects.

Fights and world map

The fights are pure beat’em upthat is, us against many enemies. It may seem that we will be at a disadvantage, but thanks to the number of combos and skills that we can perform from the beginning, things are balanced. It is true that the first game was a bit difficult for me, but once equipped with better armor, things have changed a lot. To say that the movement of the character changes a lot between classes, the more agile he is, the more fluid the movement and the faster the attacks, but in general he feels good with each of them. The variety of enemies is also quite good, some will require certain attacks from us, for example to break a shield or stun a boss for a few seconds.

A very important point is the world map. It is divided into cellsand to move we must complete them, although from time to time access is given to a larger area. In each cell a mission awaits us, which will require, or rather recommend, that we have equipment of a certain level. From time to time there will be more complicated cells, such as bosses, although we can use the cooperative mode and join forces with friends, in addition, we can change class at any time, if we deem it necessary.

Technical and audiovisual section

Tour It’s an aesthetic title beautifuleverything seems drawn. The settings are full of movement and are detailed and colorful, it is almost as if despite the serious situation that humanity is going through, everything is at peace. The musical themes are very relaxed, especially in the menus and in the tower area; in the missions they are more optimistic, but not aggressive. As for the voices, there are none, we only have the texts, which for now are entirely in english.

Technically this is where we see very clearly that it is early access, on PC there is lack of optionsThere are very few things that can be adjusted compared to other titles. During my hours of play, I had some somewhat random FPS drops, although I don’t know if they were due to the game itself or the connection to the servers. It is also not compatible with ultra-wide resolutions. On the other hand, it is worth remembering that the game is still in development and it is very likely that these aspects will improve.

In short, Towerbone…

It’s a game that aims high and is on the right track.. The gameplay feels very good, the combat is fun and to some extent strategic and it’s also beautiful to watch. It’s true that it has its problems, like any early access, but with time they will be solved, especially with the feedback from the community. There is no doubt that over time, Tour It will become the game we aspire to, the one that will give us hours and hours of fun. I look forward to seeing how development progresses.
