Bridge13 is a study that has caught my attention since the release of the title Lords of the Fallen for Xbox One, a title that I was able to try and that, unfortunately, did not convince me for various reasons. I tried again with the two episodes of The Surge and although they greatly improved my opinion, I was still not convinced by the same thing as with the previous game. Now I’ve encouraged myself to try this Atlas Fallen preview and here I can already say I’ve seen quite a noticeable improvement over all of the abovecon a style that is still reminiscent of FromSoftware games but this time it strays enough to make it more original from the studio itself, with an identity of its own that doesn’t constantly remind me of Dark Souls anymore. Then I’ll tell you.
I don’t have much to say about the story since the time I played was very short, moreover it seems that the demo shows a chapter after the first one. It only remains clear that we are in a fantasy world full of magic and creatures of all kinds and our protagonist wears a magic gauntlet with a spirit inside with whom we will talk and with whom a relationship will be forged.
Fairly spectacular and at the same time undemanding technical level
Right now it’s time to see how new games are coming to the current generation of consoles and the Xbox One is slowly falling behind. This is the case of Atlas Fallen, because andMay 16 will arrive on PC and Xbox Series X / S show its technical part in its entirety, which I was able to do on my computer in a completely acceptable way, Well, by putting the graphics to the maximum I was able to play in 1080p and 60 fps with an RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 5 3600. Although the latter should be monitored between now and launch, as it’s possible the minimum and recommended requirements will change by the time the full game arrives.
It is clear that the title looks great in its new world, that even if it is not open we can explore these open areas full of secrets and nooks to be discovered. I don’t know if at some point in the campaign we’ll get some sort of mount so the area I had to move around was sprinting or magically sliding through the desert sand, a method to which I did not expect and which is very satisfying, because we can cover long distances very quickly and easily. I hope the rest of the sites to be explored in the final version will also use this move.
Exceptional playability
the gameplay has been something where Deck13 has always shined in a very good way, even in Lords of the Fallen, but this time they have created a combat system that works better than ever with dodging and parades to be able to avoid enemy attacks and also in more options beyond strong and weak attacks, since an important part of our equipment will be the gems that will allow us to add passive abilities in addition to making new powerful attacks and spectacular combos if we put several of these moves together. Within these the ability to heal ourselves is combined, which is less limited, since it will not be an object but an ability that we will recharge during the fight with blows, so if we suffer from health we have something easier than just running out of jars.
In addition to everything mentioned above, in the fight against bigger and stronger enemies, there are also novelties with a system already seen before but in this case it is improved and tweaked, having to hit the same point to cause blunt damage to these monsters and final bosses
We can also improve and customize our armor and our gauntlet, we can do it in various places that we will have to discover while exploring and which will also serve to talk to the spirit that lives inside the object.
Atlas Fallen is an action RPG title that promises a lot and shows improvements over previous Deck13 work
In summary, this brief overview of Atlas Fallen has left me with a great taste in my mouth and with high hopes that the full game will be a tremendous bomb and another of the great games that we can put in the top best of this 2023, something not sure yet, but I have good vibes about it.
