This is a great day for all of us at Verdun the dev team. Anyone who has worked in the game will know that they feel like they've really done it because there is so much more to add, but we hear this updated version Verdun of the Xbox One has been greatly improved, from control schemes to the new user interface … and that is far from all the reminders on the table. You also get modified graphics, new sound system and sounds, AI opponents, new maps, new squads, and more. The monument is part of a new look and feel for the entire WW1 Game Series: everything from logo to in-game art.
New look and new feel
The first thing you will notice at the beginning of the game is the complete change of user experience! Now the menus are now up-to-date and look good, and we have added localization made by Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish and Polish. The new game logo better reflects the environment Verdun
There have been several improvements to the game and content available. The character types have been improved, along with a ton of other minor improvements. We also take pride in ourselves and improve the sound effects in the game. The sound is rearranged with satisfying and direct sound effects, as well as renewed sounds of immersion even more when fighting in the canals. Where possible we worked with reenactors and collectors who own WWI real weapons to find the most authentic sounds!
Polish has been used many times throughout the game – for example, there is an expanded program to better capture the horrors of WWI wars, as well as a bulletproof and tweaked barbed wire. Instead of getting caught and dying, the now blocked fence will only reduce damage – so you still want to avoid the wire, but you can force your way through the edge without worrying about sudden death. There are also quality upgrades such as new player training plans, improved spawning system, improved kill camera, and more…
New Map, Squares, and Arms
The memorial includes a new map and two new squads with new weapons! New map set on St. Mihiel still saw a great battle during the Battle of St. Mihiel, when American troops outside with French support attacked and defeated the 5th German army. The French troops involved in the war came from the II Colonial Corps, leading us well into the new battalion (!) That formed part of the monument. The Senegalese Tirailleurs are the new French invasion force. Their unique matches make them formidable opponents in faraway places, and there are no shelves in the range when using their Berthier colonial rivals either.
The second new group is the ANZACs – brought to the other side of the world to fight in the pits of the West Front. While Gallipoli is probably the most well-known war involving the ANZACs, they also fight against France. In ANZAC's final engineering games, they represented soldiers such as the 1st Australian Tunneling Company who participated in digging two large tunnels under Cattle 60 in November 1916. They are well equipped with SMLE guns and Lewis Gun fire support, but also include the unusual Webley-Fosbery – annex an automated operating system.
AI Allies and opponents
Finally, we added bot support to this game! You can have 24 AI bots join your battles. They will fight aggressively using any team on any map in Frlines game mode. AI NCOs will call for funding fire, and they can be tough opponents of defense. You can start your own offline custom battles and choose which teams you want to use for AI!
Looking to the future, the Tannenberg release spurts great progress and we can't wait to tell more stories as soon as we have them. Until then…
Happy Holidays from all of us in the WW1Game Series team!
