Josh Bridge from Activision explained why there is no map rotation in Call of Duty: Warzone.
Josh Bridge, as Activision’s vice president of design, provided insight into the decision as to why there are no more maps in Call of Duty: Warzone.
So the possibility of card rotation was asked. This would allow players not only to play the current map Caldera, but also its predecessor Verdansk.
Bridge said that while they want it, technical issues are preventing them from fulfilling the request. The reason is the installation sizes of the game.
“We want that. We all want that.”
“Well, there is a technical problem. The install and reinstall sizes are fucking insane. If we take Caldera out and say, OK, we’re going to Gdańsk, that could essentially be a re-download of Warzone’s greatness. And every time we’ve done that, we’ve lost players.”
On a standard PlayStation 4, you can’t install more than Warzone and Modern Warfare, he adds.
For the future he promises to get a rotation on a technical level.
Speaking of Call of Duty: Warzone 2, he said it will be a gameplay experience that’s new from the ground up and players can expect “a massive evolution from battle royale with a whole new game environment and sandbox mode.”
