Thanks to backwards compatibility, I am currently playing Dead Space 2, I have a debt to the franchise, since I only finished the first episode. Thanks to the improvements that the Xbox Series X automatically injects, the game is much more enjoyable and can be played better. Maybe a little error with the Dolby Vision that I noticed, but nothing major.
Thing is, playing the game got me thinking about what titles in this cup are coming in the months and years to come. I have always been a faithful fan of the genre. I’m not talking about Jump Scare, but Survival Horror where ammunition is scarce, enemies are visible but complicated, and the terror is more in the plot and the feeling of dread than in the first person scares .
Horror mixed with action comes to life
And it is that if the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 have done something well, it is put gender back in the right place and bring back consumer and studio interest in a style of play that was ostracized just a few years ago. Resident Evil 7, despite its first-person view, laid a good foundation for that to happen, and voila, the perfect cocktail.
If you look back a bit, we have 3 great franchises coming back to life in remake form on the horizon. It’s not just about new deliveries, it’s about bringing games that were already working with a new approach and technological improvements. Like this and without thinking too much, they will reach us:
- Remake of Alone in the Dark.
- Resident Evil 4 remake.
- Dead Space remake.
- Alan Wake 2.
- The last tests.
Not bad, 4 great games that were a real bomb in their time and will come back to life. Not to mention the possibility of a Resident Evil Code Veronica which is also flying around in some rumors and cabals. Add to that the remaster we received from Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water.
New survival horror, ready to stand up to the classics
However, not everything is sequels and remakes, there are also new installments that have arrived or are about to arrive on our consoles and PCs.
- Contempt (Earring)
- The Callisto Protocol (Earring)
- Evil Nun: The Shattered Mask (Earring)
- Impious (Earring)
- Nemesis: Distress (Earring)
- Instinct (Earring)
- dark moonlight (Earring)
- Resident Evil 7.
- Resident Evil Village.
Of course, if you like games from this court, you’re in luck. The best thing is that the number of proposals seems to continue to increase, I’m left alone on the surface, but I am convinced that many others will come to fill this gap. To all this add those that we already have available in the catalog of this generation.
Did I forget any? Leave it in the comments and we’ll discuss it. On the other hand, do you agree with this approach? Is this the Survival Horror generation?
