Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen the old Call of Duty come alive, literally. And it is that all those of the Xbox 360 era who achieved the most fame have mysteriously returned to find all their options online. The networks ensure by their own sources that it was Microsoft who raised this lever by bringing back the servers. And now it looks like it’s done it with older Gears of War as well.
We know that old games let their dedicated servers “die” for lack of population, because if they continue to have players, it’s harder for companies to terminate them, unless it’s just a simple resource policy. As there are new games that provide a similar experience, the old ones eventually die. But there is a common denominator in Call of Duty and Gears of War resurrected: both are backwards compatible.
As of today, all 3 games from the original Gears of War trilogy have functional online matchmaking/multiplayer again. The match finder for Gears of War 1 is now back live, along with recent fixes for matchmaking in Gears of War 3. It’s great to see this finally happening. pic.twitter.com/JexCom2JpZ

A reason to dust off your old Xbox 360
Of course, the best way to play Gears of War 3 is no longer on your old Xbox 360, because on Xbox One X it runs right out of the box at enhanced 4K resolution – absolutely spectacular. But if what you want is to throw Gears with your faithful old lady, you can now thanks to the fact that Microsoft has decided to open the servers.
Maybe it’s something temporary, maybe they appeal to nostalgia, but the fact is that there are many users who were “lost” in the previous generation, where they went from their beloved 360 to PS4, and who can be recovered today with these small details, with which Microsoft demonstrates the importance of preserving the video game and its intention with the community. What if they cross out some Xbox Series X sales | S, what exists, so much the better.
