To celebrate the November 11th release of Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Xbox aims to inspire a new generation of heroes to innovate, build and thrive in the gaming and STEM industries to make a place.
Xbox delivers interactive experiences inspired by the new film while amplifying diverse voices in technology and gaming. In the spirit of Xbox branded platform Power Your Dreams, we kick off with a drone presentation high in the night sky, narrated by Letitia Wright, who plays fan favorite Shuri – Princess of Wakanda and lead scientist at the Wakandan Design Group – reminding us that we all have the potential have to make our dreams come true. The program will direct participants to the official Xbox microsite dedicated to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever xbox.com/wakanda-foreverwhere consumers can find more information about the film and exclusive Xbox promotions.
“Working with Xbox is an opportunity to show women the power to grow in our respective professions, whether you’re a designer, gamer or actress,” said Letitia Wright, Lead Actress. “In many ways, my character Shuri and I have grown together. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever allowed me to expand as an actress while Shuri grew into her role as Princess of Wakanda and senior scientist at the Wakanda Design Group. Shuri will have to endure changes along with all Wakandans and embrace the next chapter in Wakanda.”
The site will feature limited-time giveaways, including custom movie-themed Xbox console kits inspired by the iconic “Wakanda Forever” salute and Black Panther hero suit, custom controller holders bundled with replica Kimoyo beads, and custom sterling silver charms. Aspiring innovators can also participate in a brand new movie-inspired MakeCode curriculum, where users can learn how to code their own Black Panther: Wakanda Forever themed playable activity. These hardware and software exclusives will also be made available to fans and students worldwide and through Microsoft’s NTA programs, which work with over 1,900 black social businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Xbox has brought an All-Star Roster to their Wakanda Forever activations to celebrate the film’s release, including:
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Lead Actress Letizia Wrightwhich plays fan-favorite character Shuri – Princess of Wakanda and senior scientist at the Wakandan Design Group – will provide inspiration and encouragement through a series of videos
- On November 7th, Professor Jacoby DuBose will deliver the first-ever Wakanda-inspired HBCU lecture from Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, where he will expand on the MakeCode curriculum and participate in a panel featuring Black Gaming and STEM innovators, with the entire lecture live is transmitted The social channels of the university
- reinforce projectby connecting with Black professionals at Xbox and the gaming industry to share their personal origin stories, advice and lessons to inspire a more equitable STEM space
The message of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is for everyone. That’s why Microsoft is working with five developers to host private screenings across America starting November 11 to give underrepresented youth in local communities the opportunity to dream and see themselves as the future of technology. Fans will have the opportunity to interact with developers, learn more about the MakeCode platform, experience unique and memorable moments of celebration, and win Xbox’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever-inspired consoles and accessories.
Together, these activations and digital experiences are designed to empower underrepresented groups to fulfill the promise of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by pursuing opportunities in game development, math, science, engineering and more.
