How does Grand Theft Auto V perform on the new generation in a direct comparison between Xbox and PlayStation? There’s more graphic comparisons in a new video.

Since March 15, 2022, Grand Theft Auto 5 is available for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 with a new improved version.

For the first time, up to 60 FPS and even native 4K resolution are possible. The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 can mostly hold frames, but you can see in the video that when there’s a lot of action on screen, the frames drop a bit. The Xbox Series X has a little more frame drops than the PlayStation 5 in comparison.

Both consoles have three new graphics modes:

  • Fidelity Mode: 2160p and 30 FPS
  • Performance Raytracing mode: 1440p, raytracing and 60 FPS
  • Performance mode: 1440p and 60 FPS

Loading times have also improved. The loading screens disappeared when fast traveling or restarting a mission. In Digital Foundry’s test, Grand Theft Auto V starts in Fidelity mode. On the Xbox Series X, Trevor can be controlled in just 20.76 seconds. The PlayStation 5 takes 23.18 seconds.

Both versions make a good impression and are quite similar. Only the graphic effects show tiny differences with the Digital Foundry loupe.
