Rare’s Craig Duncan will now head Xbox Studios
We’ve been through months of change and restructuring at Microsoft Gaming, and now it’s the turn of Xbox Game Studioswhich has a new leader with Craig Duncan, director of Rare. Following the departure of Alan Hartman, after 36 years of career and who led Turn10 in the Forza saga, Duncan will take charge of Microsoft’s internal studios.
The change will come at the end of November after Hartman and Craig Duncan retire, after 14 years at the helm of Rare, he will move into a new and complicated role in the ranks of Xbox. Duncan’s responsibility will be much greater, but after having huge successes with Sea of Thieves and the Rare environment, we are confident he will do a great job.
His new role spans Xbox teams including Halo Studios, The Coalition, Turn 10, Playground Games, Rare, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games, The Initiative, Double Fine, InXile, Undead Labs, World’s Edge and more. Duncan will report directly to President of Games Content and Studios Matt Booty.
