Matt Booty outlines future goals for the Xbox division after the shutdowns.
Just one day after Xbox announced the closure of four studiosamong them the developer of Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks, it seems that during the last meeting of the board of directors of the Redmond company they spoke of the importance of developing “smaller games”.
According to “internal feedback” shared with The Verge, Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty, explained that at least one of the division’s future goals is to offer smaller titles that give the company “prestige and awards.”
Of course, we don’t know the exact details of Tango Gameworks’ closure. Perhaps the most notable change in recent times has been founder Shinji Mikami’s departure from the studio early last year and the recent release of Hi-Fi Rush on PlayStation 5.
Apart from this, the same title was said to have been a “huge success” when it initially launched on Game Pass, reaching millions of subscribers, and Tango Gameworks already had plans for a sequel. However, some new projects would have required more staff, which could have been a factor in closure.
