It’s no secret that the Xbox One era was a major turning point for Microsoft. Communication errors, catastrophic generation start, questionable price positioning. We could easily go on like this for minutes. So many reasons that have negatively impacted console sales at Microsoft. If since 2016 the brand has been particularly discreet about the sales of its consoles, preferring to focus on the subscribers of its services, analysts have continued to provide estimates about this. Sony’s 2:1 ratio has often been highlighted. This one seems to be true according to a document from the Brazilian authorities published last week.
Indeed, on page 18 we can read that “Sony has outperformed Microsoft in terms of console sales and installed base, having sold more than twice as many Xboxes over the last generation. The Japanese company recently presented the latest PS4 sales figures, which total almost 117.2 million units. This increases the number of Xbox One consoles to around 58.6 million, which corresponds to analyst forecasts at the time. It’s hard to speak of failure when you look at numbers like this, but it falls short of the Seattle company’s forecasts. What is certain is that this period served as a cornerstone in forging the group’s gaming division into what it is today.
