The price of the Xbox Series will increase in Japan for the second year in a row, which is not very understandable.
Microsoft has announced a price increase for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in Japan. These will go into effect on August 15. The price of Xbox Series X will increase by 7,000 yenthat of Xbox Series S 1TB (black) at 5,400 yen. Meanwhile, the price of the Xbox Series S 512GB climbs by 6,600 yen more compared to 2023. This is the second price increase for these devices, after the one announced in January. 2023. In the previous increase, each console had seen a 5,000 yen increase, a considerable increase.
The new rates are as follows:
- Xbox Series X – 59,978 yen → 66,978 yen
- Xbox Series S 1TB (Black) – 44,578 yen → 49,978 yen
- Xbox Series S 512 GB – 37,978 yen → 44,578 yen
If we extrapolate the prices in dollars, the Xbox Series X saw its retail value increase by 75$ (12,000 yen with both increases) and in the case of S Series of 512 GB, the increase is one 72$ (11,600 yen). This makes the price of the Microsoft small business today almost 30% more than it was a year and a half ago.
