There are no more controversies. What started to make a lot of noise in comparisons in which the PS5 was ahead of the Xbox Series X is soon coming to an end. The latest technical analysis done between the platforms definitely condemns what the hardware itself was pointing to, making it clear that the numbers don’t fail. We’ve seen it in Hitman 3, we’ve seen it in The Division 2 update, and we’ve seen it today in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
In the previous comparison between Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, there was already a clear resolution advantage of Microsoft’s console, but this fix that increases the frame rate to 60 fps for performance mode brings the Xbox Series X and the PS5 to a new level of almost mandatory action. Digital Foundry made this comparison, let’s take a look:
Ghost Recon: Breakpoint revive on Xbox Series X
Let’s start with the Xbox Series S, which takes the worst, in this case going for a solution similar to the one we saw in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 1440p and 30fps without the possibility of changing modes, although as they point out in the video, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to hit 60fps, as happened in Valhalla with a patch. But let’s get to the interesting thing, because again the PS5 is weighed down by resolution in both modes, in favor of the Xbox Series X.
In resolution mode, both run at 30 fps, but the Xbox Series X hits native 4K and the PS5 at 1440p. In performance, something similar happens proportionally, since a 60 fps, Xbox Series X corre a 1440p dinámicos y PS5 a 1080p. We must take into account the requirement of an open world with the characteristics of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, with vehicles, large stages, etc … to know in depth the demands of these machines to reach this rate.
In short, we think the PS5 could achieve higher values, at least dynamically, but it looks like Ubisoft has gone for security and at least the frame rates in one of the modes and consoles remain solid. for the most part, but it is clear that the best version is on Xbox Series X. Considering the low price at which Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is currently available, this is a very good excuse for those who were considering giving it a try, no bugs and no serious issues when it was launched.
