We always share with you all the free games that can be obtained from the various digital stores, including Steam. The Valve store always has promotions from different publishers and as in the Epic Games Storeevery week we always have free content and games.
This time we have two free games on Steam, which will be free forever. The reason for this giveaway is really moving, their creator died of cancer a few weeks ago and one of his ideas, before the tragic end, was to make his two games free for everyone to play . Of course, the saddest part of all this is the loss of a human being, but behind all this there is a beautiful farewell letter from a colleague and friend of his who explained what happened.
Free games on Steam with a compelling reason
Hello, my name is CJ, I am a partner at Squid (Rob). I have an announcement, and honestly, it’s one of the hardest announcements I can think of having to make. Rob died a fortnight ago from cancer after a long and painful stay in hospital. I wish I had made the announcement sooner, but I just wasn’t calm enough to sit down and write anything meaningful until now.
By now you might have noticed that Waves and Waves 2 are free on all platforms. It was something Rob had been considering anyway over the past couple of months as his health struggled more significantly, so hopefully this can be seen as a parting gift for anyone who hasn’t yet played any of these games.
Rob was passionate about his work and very dedicated, throughout the years we were together they always dreamed big and strived to make the best game possible. This meant that sometimes Rob was aiming for the moon and missing, and means that Waves 2 will unfortunately remain permanently incomplete. But that doesn’t take away the fear and pride I’ve always had for Rob; to see someone so dedicated to his craft. It was a pleasure to support Rob, through this initial push and the years of indie development that followed. I know they would have liked to finish this capstone project but as covid progressed the need for a more stable income loomed and between those factors and Rob’s health issues they never had time to close that particular branch. of his heritage.
But what Rob achieved was inspiring and surprising to me; having done all this solo development work, continually challenging themselves and tweaking their games as they went…it was a joy to watch, and something I have always wholeheartedly supported.
So I hope that all of you, whoever you are and yet Rob’s games have caught up with you, that you can at least have a special place for Waves games, and continue to offer you many more hours of relaxation, challenge . , and maybe even frustration, but most of all I hope you can continue to feel the passion and love that Rob poured into these games long after the pain of his passing begins to fade.
Thank you very much to all,
CJ xXx
So, if you decide to get these two games, know that it would be one of the wishes of their creator that from Xbox Generation, we send our strongest hugs and affection to your friends and family.
