We are witnessing a rather unique moment in MotoGP history with a multitude of teams and riders embroiled in a championship battle over the past few seasons. Last year was a particularly good example of how quickly things can change over the course of a season, with the incredible comebacks of Bagnaia and Ducati.
When we designed MotoGP 23, we wanted our community to experience the same thrills we see on TV. With that goal in mind, we had to come up with some significant changes from the previous chapters.
One of the aspects that will amaze fans of the series – even the most die-hard ones – is the new career mode, which will allow players to embark on their own journey to become a two-wheeled legend. For the first time, Turning Points impact career paths based on each player’s achievements and decisions. For example, the results of the debut season – which will only feature a handful of races in the latter part of a Moto3 championship – will decide whether players will have immediate access to the Moto2 or even the MotoGP championship, speeding up progression through the classes. However, finding a contract will not be easy as each team only has two spots and players will have to compete with the official drivers to take their spot. In winter testing, it will then be crucial to prove yourself as the best rider on the team and to have the opportunity to influence the development of the bike in the way that best suits your riding style. Therefore, rivalries will be a key factor in making each player’s career path unique; However, these are not limited to the track.
Nowadays, social networks are becoming more and more important when it comes to sports and this is another aspect that we have included in the game for the first time. MotoGP 23 will include a social network where players can interact with drivers, teams and manufacturers. Just like in real life, this will be the place to make friends but also to provoke rivals, since the behavior of the AI during the races will be different depending on how the players interact on the social network.
changes in MotoGP 23 Go beyond pure design as two brand new features take simulation to a whole new level of realism. Highly requested by the community, Dynamic Weather could quickly turn a dry race into a wet chaos, leaving room for the player’s skill and sense of strategy. When a race is declared a flag-to-flag they have the option to return to the pit lane and change bikes if they believe it is the right choice. We also worked on AI behavior: now each driver has a unique personality and driving style that matches the real one. For example, a duel with Marc Marquez will be more risky since he will be more aggressive than average.
When it comes to gameplay, accessibility remains one of the game’s pillars. A new neural assist system for braking, acceleration and handling will offer a modular gaming experience to help novices while providing an immersive experience for experienced players. Newcomers also benefit from dedicated training sessions at the MotoGP Academy, which was much appreciated last year.
MotoGP 23 will also offer more opportunities to race in multiplayer. For the first time, cross-play will make it possible to challenge other players regardless of platform and console generation, while ranked races will allow players of the same level to compete within the same event and collect a score to climb the global leaderboard. Of course, 2-player local split-screen is back for side-by-side fun with friends on the couch.
Finally, with the graphic editor for helmet, stickers, race number and butt patch, players can show their style and make their journey in MotoGP even more unique.
MotoGP 23 will be available on June 8, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Visit the official site for more informations.
