2023 is over and we’ve reviewed our favorite Apple releases. And now, already living in 2024, we must look towards the future and more particularly towards the products that those from Cupertino plan to launch throughout these next 12 months.
If we look at Apple’s possible release schedule for 2024, we find up to 11 devices that were already expected in 2023 and which were ultimately not launched. And of these, barring any surprises, we expect them all to end up arriving before the end of this brand new year 2024.
The already announced Apple Vision Pro could arrive this month
It’s an open secret: the Apple Vision Pro is imminent. It’s been a few weeks since Apple’s roadmap with the long-awaited mixed reality glasses was revealed and in recent days analysts believe that They will eventually arrive at the end of this January or February. What seems clear is that March won’t arrive without the Vision Pro on the market.
Now we must remember that This will be a very limited release. Not only in number of units to be manufactured, but also in points of sale. As Apple itself has already announced, they will initially be launched in the United States and from there not much else is known. Although they could end up reaching other territories throughout the year, nothing is confirmed and it could very well happen as early as 2025.
The entire iPad range renewed
It sounds like a lie, but Not a single new iPad has been launched in the year 2023
- iPad (11th generation): This is the “basic” iPad intended for home use and at the same time Apple’s most economical tablet. After the redesign of the iPad 2022 since it is the tenth generation, it is not expected that in this year’s version there will be major changes beyond the processor update, moving from an A14 Bionic to an A16 Bionic.
- iPad mini (7th generation): This is the iPad model that raises the most doubts. Not because he doesn’t have fans, but because there are no clear signs of a revival for this year. If there are any, few changes are expected compared to the iPad mini 6 launched in 2021. As with the previous iPad, a change in processor and nothing else.
- iPad Air (6th generation): The iPad Air 2024 aims to lay an unprecedented foundation to date with two new models in different sizes, keeping the small with the iPad Air 2022 size of 10.9 inches and raising the large to 12.9 inches. A renewal of the processor is also expected, moving to the M2 chip currently available in the latest iPad Pro.
- iPad Pro (2024 – M3): Once the idea of a possible “giant” iPad Pro reaching 14 inches has been ruled out, sizes identical to those already known for the iPad Pro 2022 are expected for the iPad Pro 2024. Its big novelty would be in power with the chip M3 and support for a new Magic Keyboard with a redesigned trackpad. And who knows if also with the Apple Pencil 3, which we will talk about just below.
A new Apple Pencil with notable new features
In short: an Apple Pencil 3 and not a hybrid between the original Apple Pencil and the Apple Pencil 2, which is essentially what the surprising Apple Pencil USB-C launched last October was. And that’s it Since 2018, we haven’t seen a new generation of iPad stylus
And of course there are rumors. It is expected that along with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air, this new Apple Pencil 3 will debut. In design it doesn’t look like it will vary excessively from the last one, but it should incorporate different types of interchangeable magnetic tips which are used to obtain different types of layout at any time.
AirPods 4, a “revolution” for Apple headphones
Mark Gurman, an analyst at Bloomberg and one of the best informed men on Apple, revealed in December Apple’s plan with its future AirPods, which foresees the launch of two versions of AirPods 4. And not two versions differentiated by their type of load. like before. No.
Gurman’s idea is to launch some “normal” AirPods 4 and others with noise cancellation. This is one of the functions for which the AirPods Pro are best sold and launching them in a standard generation would allow it to reach a wider audience, although they obviously would not have all the technology and quality that now present the AirPods Pro 2.
The first “Ultra” iPhone in history
Up until a month before the iPhone 15 launch, it was rumored that we would see an iPhone 15 Ultra. In essence, it’s just a name, but it would mean having an iPhone even more ambitious than the ‘Pro’
However, there was no iPhone 15 Pro Max and eyes are now turning to the iPhone 16 generation. The latest rumors are pessimistic about this idea And yes, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max benefiting from the improvements, it’s still early to definitively rule out the idea that this year we’ll see an “Ultra” iPhone.
New Macs updated with M3 chips
The M3 chips and their “Pro” and “Max” variants have already debuted in the M3 iMac and MacBook Pro 2023. However, Updates have not yet been released for the rest of the range. Even the M3 Ultra for desktop Macs, which will undoubtedly be Apple’s most advanced processor.
- MacBook Air M3: The 13.6-inch and 15.6-inch models of the MacBook Air remain anchored to the M2 chip. A good processor, but which is undoubtedly behind the M3 already presented. They are expected to be updated with this chip throughout the year, although no further improvements or visual changes are planned.
- Mac mini 2024: The same thing happens to the smallest Mac like the MacBook Air and is that it is currently sold with an M2 or M2 Pro chip, but none of the new generation. For this 2024 it is planned to incorporate versions with M3 and M3 Pro chip and who knows if with some design variations.
- Mac Studio 2024: It is Apple’s second most powerful computer and is currently offered with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips. If you don’t know if you can eclipse the ‘mini’ and ‘Pro’, hay analysts that you add the link this year from a third generation of this Mac Studio updated to M3 Max and M3 Ultra, this is the latest new chip until date.
- Mac Pro 2024: The M3 Ultra will be the only processor that will power the Mac Pro, Apple’s most powerful computer. Same chip as the ‘Studio’, yes, but retaining the differences in terms of graphics, RAM and storage that we already saw last June with the Mac Pro 2023.
