The new AirTag has been around for a week and some have already used it at an airport. Apart from this intended and perfectly limited use, one user decided to deviate a bit, send yourself an AirTag and see what happened. The result is a very curious route layout.
A 120-kilometer walk through Holland to return to its owner
In the video from user AirtagAlex we see how it is ordered an AirTag wrapped in bubble wrap and inside an envelope, also with bubble coating. At the same time, set up an automatic capture with Automator in the Search app. In the process, we see how the name of the capture is automatically changed and the process starts over every two minutes.
Once done, AirtagAlex goes to a mailbox of PostNL, the Dutch postal company. At five in the afternoon, leave the package in the mailbox located on a residential street with some traffic. A key aspect to make AirTag detection more likely via the iPhone or any passing Apple device.
Around 6:45 p.m., the AirTag starts to move. First, the AirTag appears in the south of the city when only a minute has passed, which the author claims to be impossible because it is very far from the neighborhood. In any case, he spent the night there until the next day, he went to a town about 30 kilometers to the north.
Later it starts up early in the morning and in two hours it appears in another city to be delivered to your mailbox later. From this journey we see that at some point there may be a jump between places. The follow-up was not continuous, but jumped from place to place. Of course, making a total journey of 120 kilometers to return to your starting point is very striking.
