Although 5G is already among us and will become more important over the years, it is clear that 4G technology continues to ship. The network that is widely used by each of us and today is little or nothing different than 5G, which we hope will change soon.
However, it seems that many users are still betting on older archaic technologies: 3G. This is confirmed by a recent study by the Opensignal firm that reports Android Authority and comments the presence of 30 million Americans who continue to use 3G networks alone
Why these 30 million people are so important to 5G technology
A study conducted between July 1, September 28, confirmed that these 30 million people use 3G networks only for three reasons. 83% of these users do not already have a 4G contract plan, 13% do not have access to 4G connectivity and the remainder because they do not have a 4G capable phone.
What at first may seem like a funny anecdote, it's worse than it seems. Users need a broad band band to deploy 5G. The idea is to roll out 3G bands to convert them to 4G networks and then 5G, but with 30 million people using it alone is not easy
Mobile companies should support their users that 3G is an outdated technology and that it is important that they update their data plans. Operators like Verizon intend to withdraw all of their 3G networks by the end of 2020 while AT&T expects it to end all before February 2022. The only thing is that they won't have anything easy, since leaving 30 million people offline it is not a decision that can be taken lightly.
