No matter the extent of the pandemic, Apple and Europe get along. The company sent a press release informing about the activity in the country, where confirmed 400 new hires in the last 12 months and promises 100 additional jobs in the coming year. It represents a growth of 20% compared to the total of 1,800 direct Spanish jobs.
A portion of these hires are for Vilynx staff, a Start The Spanish acquired by Apple, which works to improve Siri in over 25 languages. The offices where they work from Barcelona, located in front of the Apple Store on Passeig de Gràcia, are almost complete. In total, including indirect positions, Apple has contributed to the creation of more than 70,000 jobs.
Another figure given by Apple is the 1,500 million dollars invested in the country over the past five years. This money has been spent on vendors and developers, “promote economic developmentfrom Europe. The eleven Apple Stores open in Madrid, Barcelona, Murcia, Malaga, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza are also mentioned, although it is not detailed whether there is the possibility of other openings in the to come up.
Pedro Sánchez will visit Apple Park
The publication of this press release does not appear to be a coincidence. The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, is on tour in search of investments for the startups technology of the country. Apple also confirms that visit Apple Park and meet Tim Cook that same friday
What is discussed at this meeting will remain private, although Sánchez surely wants Apple to track this rate of investment and employment in Europe so that it contributes to the economic recovery. The worst of the pandemic has passed in many parts of the world and it is time to get back to positive planning.
