Apple has introduced many new features to iOS over time, just look at iOS 18, but there are still features I wish I had on the iPhone
Apple introduced iOS 18 a few weeks ago, and the new system comes with some interesting new features and improvements, among which Apple Intelligence stands out. However, Apple still hasn’t added some features I’ve always wanted in iOS. While some, like call recording or message scheduling, will arrive with iOS 18, many other wishes remain unfulfilled.
I think many of these features would help to have a more coherent and above all simpler to use operating system. These are small tweaks that would make the iPhone a little better.
Better volume control
He The iPhone’s volume control is pretty chaotic. In the sound settings, we do not have a clear distinction between the operating system volume, call volume or alarm volume, and configuring each of them separately is not at all intuitive.
To adjust the volume of an alarm on the iPhone, you have to do it alarm by alarm and the iPhone is also not able to remember the volume we had set the last time we used the AirPods. I think we should have a section in settings where you can configure the volume of all sections: notifications, calls, alarms, music… everything would be much simpler.
Split screen
It’s been available on the iPad for years and it’s a feature that, while it might not be one of the most used on the iPhone, In many situations this could be interesting. Especially now that we have iPhones with big screens.
Using two apps at the same time on the iPhone screen could be interesting in many wayslike being able to quickly swipe between them or check a social network while you’re watching something live, and Apple would surely offer many more. The iPhone is capable of doing this, but Apple sees no reason to add this functionality.
Landscape view on the home screen
This is one of the features I miss the most on older iPhones and honestly, I don’t understand why Apple removed it. Before The 5.5-inch iPhone Plus’ home screen can be rotated horizontally and use the iPhone in this way. But this is no longer possible.
As with the iPad, many users can use iPhone horizontally many timeswhether it’s when they’re gaming or watching content, so seeing the home screen horizontally would make navigation more user-friendly.
Sort photos and videos by size
Now that the Photos app has been completely redesigned in iOS 18, Apple has forgotten one useful feature: be able to sort an album or the entire gallery by size. This way we could easily see which videos or photos are larger and find them at a glance.
Be able to clean the cache of applications without having to delete them
You can clear the iPhone cache, but iOS doesn’t allow you to delete app cache. This causes many apps to save a large amount of data and end up taking up a lot of space. The only option is remove them and reinstall themsomething quite tedious for users.
These are five really simple features to implement that I’ve been wanting on the iPhone for a long time. They’re very small tweaks, but they They would greatly improve the experience when using an iPhone.
