Last Wednesday at its annual I/O conference, Google unveiled several new products, features, and services that will arrive in the coming months. we saw a new Tableta Pixel watch and phone, a new cheap Pixel 6a, the first public beta of Android 13 and interesting updates to the browser, the artificial intelligence used and some applications.
But who iGamesNews, we couldn’t help but notice the familiarity of many of the advertised products. Many of the features advertised in I/O seem to have been pulled straight from the Apple manual.
We’ve rounded up 5 features coming to Google and Android devices that Apple users have loved for years.
google wallet
One of the main announcements of Software I/O was the conversion from Google Pay to Google Wallet. It is true that Google Wallet already existed when the Apple Card arrived, but the latest version is clearly inspired by the iPhone application.
Launching soon, the new Google Wallet brings together your entire digital life, storing digital IDs, boarding passes, concert tickets, vaccination certificates, loyalty cards, car keys and of course credit cards .
From my own experience, Android users will love it.
App improvements and tablet multitasking
To say the least, the tablets Google doesn’t exactly play in the same league as the iPad. With Android 13, Google wants to change that and it will do it by stealing tablets Apple is part of the awesome experience they offer.
Among the new features to come tablets Android we find easy multitasking that will let you use more than one app at the same time, plus new interfaces “to make the most of the extra space, including YouTube Music, Google Maps, Messages and more “
We are not sure that this will have any impact on the domain that the tablets of Apple in today’s industry, but hey, better late than never.
Universal copy-paste function
Apple users have long had the ability to copy something on their iPhone and paste it on their Mac thanks to the power of Handoff and iCloud. Now Google is going to bring the same feature to phones and tablets Android.
According to Google, “you will soon be able to copy a URL or an image from your phone and paste it into your Tablet“. The system (as you can see below) doesn’t seem as accurate as Apple’s Universal Clipboard, which works just fine, but hey, you start with something.
Pixel Buds Pro
In his opening speech of the I/O, Google also presented several products of Materialincluding the cheap new Pixel 6a, but most intriguing are the new Pixel Buds Pro.
No one would confuse the Pixel Buds A wireless headphones with the AirPods, but the Pixel Buds Pro have a very similar feature set to the AirPods Pro.
You’ve got noise cancellation, transparency mode, spatial audio and “Find My” tracking, and a design that looks too much like what the AirPods Pro 2 are rumored to have.
Call them rivals if you want, but we’ll call them a copycat.
digital crown
Google was slow to announce its first portablebut finally confirmed the existence of the Pixel Watch during Google I/O.
As with other Android Wear watches, it has a circular design with a fairly large bezel and a new ‘touch’ crown that appears to be Google’s version of the Apple Watch’s digital crown.
We don’t know if it will go as fast as Apple’s or have an ECG sensor built-in, but the concept and look of the Pixel Watch’s rotary knob is virtually identical.
