Apple is preparing everything to welcome the newest member of its family of computers!
The possibility seems closer and closer. After confirming that Apple will finally launch a 15-inch MacBook Air, new reports confirm that the company may do so at WWDC in June 2023, before live audiences return. Thus, the version shared by Mark Gurman of his Power On column contradicts those who expect the launch during a supposed spring event.
If Gurman is right, the launch of the larger MacBook Air, would coincide with the launch of the latest MacBook Air in June 2022, during the WWDC of the developers. At the time, the company took the opportunity to present a MacBook Air with a new design, an M2 chip, a 1080p camera and a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display.
It’s the year of the 15-inch MacBook Air
According to the post, beyond the release date, there are other concerns regarding the release. Gurman doesn’t know if the new MacBook Air will come with Apple’s upcoming M3 chips or if it will keep the current M2 silicon. The columnist claims that while a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip may still excite consumers, a new 13-inch MacBook Air M2 is unlikely to please.
Although in this wave of launches the 15-inch MacBook Air will be the main protagonist, it will not be the only one. Apple will also introduce an updated 13-inch MacBook Air (J513) and a new Apple Mac Pro. Both versions are expected between late spring and summer.
As for other members of Apple’s computer family, the company is reportedly working on production tests to a 24-inch iMac updated internally, though no changes to its screen size or new colors are expected for the fall.
Until now, Gurman expects more exciting updates in 2025with the advent of the first OLED-based touchscreen MacBooks.
