We keep noticing new iOS 16 features that Apple hadn’t revealed until now that the system is available to everyone. The official iOS 16 version press release describes a mode called “Clean Energy Recharge” nothing of which was known even in the betas.
If there is no clean energy, I do not charge
Apple describes clean power charging (something like Recharge with clean energy
“Clean Energy Charging seeks to reduce the iPhone’s carbon footprint by optimizing charging times when the power grid uses cleaner energy sources”
There are no more details and It will be exclusive to the United States for the time being.but from 9to5Mac they may have known that iOS 16 has a new background process that checks the percentage of clean energy sources used at a specific time by an energy authority.
From this we can deduce that if we activate this option and leave the iPhone charging, it would only be charged at times when the electrical network offers energy generated from sources as clean as possible
What users are most interested in is that the iPhone is fully charged when we get up, so we will have to see how the device behaves if, for example, there are days when there is no no choice but to depend more on coal or other sources of contaminants. If we add to this the possibility of optimizing the load to take care of the battery, said load is going to be the result of many algorithms and not a simple action of passing current.
