The Christmas holidays have already ended in many countries and WhatsApp has already gone back to work to continue launching new features that gradually improve the service experience. These are details, but when accumulated they get there Today’s WhatsApp is very different from three years ago.
The latest new features will soon arrive on the Mac version of the service, which has already recently benefited from an interface change. This aspect will change even more and will integrate new elements which, in turn, prepare the new functions of the service.
New sidebar with access to more WhatsApp sections
As they were able to detect in WABetaInfo, a new sidebar which will inherit the icons from the new interface that WhatsApp got on iOS. It is more restricted than the one we have in the current version and provides access to more sections: discussions, statuses, channels, communities, archived and featured discussions.
This new bar should propagate to all instances of the application, which could take weeks. I just checked myself that I have the latest version of the app and I’m still using the old bar. It will be crowned by a new dark interface which will arrive first in the web version (you can see it in the screenshot above) and which should not take long to be “inherited” from the macOS version.
Access to all new sections, from anywhere
If we look at other features discovered by WABetaInfo, it seems that the 2024 goals of WhatsApp developers go through “universalize” all the new features of the service on all devices. At the moment we still have sections such as channels that are still not visible from WhatsApp for Mac, at least in cases that have not yet been updated. This new bar should solve the problem.
Other functions that they have already prepared are new keyboard shortcuts and the possibility of searching for people by their username, a name that we will soon be able to reserve (and this will have to be done with some haste if we want any a specific one). This should allow, if desired, anyone you can find us if you know this username.
