2019 was the year to expand the realme, Oppo's sub brand come to Spain with the best mobiles, highlighting the realme X2 Pro as one of the year's mobile phones given its powerful features and price that without being an affordable phone for everyone, it is much cheaper for the entire included price. The realme X50 Pro 5G wants to prove itself a worthy success. But is it?
From year to year, the company has decided to make a quick price at offering more. We already had an initial idea about the arrival of the new generation last February, which, after being launched, already has a date available in Spain.

Big, consistent, heavy mobile
The realme X50 Pro sounds hand in hand with that consistency. That's a big block, but it's not big, heavy, but without being brick. Its 207 grams is not the lightest, but it is a far cry from mobile featherweight, an important factor to consider.
The mobile is cramped in some way, but in this case it's a good feature, since its rear cameras are useless, which prevents the cell from losing much stability when left on the table.
As for glass, our color unit Red Moss she is beautiful. Its matte finish is soft to the touch and the indicators have a subtle effect. On a personal level I love it and it is the colors that have left the best impression on me in all of the aluminum and glass combinations.
The realme X50 Pro makes you want to take it without charge, in part because of its already high weight, on the other hand because of how precious it is.
The side frames are also matte-style, with a bit more red. On the left side we thank the volume buttons.
On the right, a power button, with a gold cord that makes it stand out.
Only the top layer of sound emits the microphone.
The frame below, where we have a microphone, speaker, USB C port and SIM card slot. It is important to highlight it only has SIM support, which can choose a dual SIM or MicroSD card expansion.
The most powerful hardware yet: it can with everything
One factor that characterizes true philosophy is speed. The company since its inception has done its best to make each of its mobile phones associated with the concept of speed, constantly choosing the best processor for each cell phone or looking at screens with a high refresh rate when not everyone is betting on them. An example is realme 6, the first cell to reach 90 hertz in the middle of the range.
In this sense, as it is a mobile phone from realme, we can expect higher speeds, and as a result:
- It has the best processor to choose from Android: Snapdragon 865.
- RAM settings are good: 8 and 12 GB of RAM.
- Faster internal storage: 128 and 256 GB of UFS 3.0 memory.
- 90 Hertz OLED screen: here it actually doesn't reach the level of Samsung, Oppo and OnePlus, but it's the same as the rest of the competition.
The screen is a basic component in the experience of use, its quality is good but not perfect. Its two moderation options are probably the worst: Nature offers very muted colors and is very strong, maybe a lot stronger than expected, so here we would like to have a middle point.
Its unique speaker sounds great, though the second speaker is quite bad, making the experience not nearly as good as we might expect.
Tactile vibration goes well, something almost impossible for this price is considered and we appreciate you taking it seriously.
Battery is good, it is charging fast, it's crazy
One of the most striking features was the rapid charging, which was able to charge the battery completely within half an hour with its W W 50 charger. until you fully move the mobile phone, half an hour later.
Even if you don't have much time and need extra charge in a short amount of time, in just 10 minutes you will be more than half the battery, capacity, well-managed, which you can use to last all day. According to me, depending on the rod we give the cellphone we can wrap between 4 and 6 hours of use during the day depending on the intensity. Of course, you can get the most out of it by simply reducing the use of applications and games, but in the end you have a lot of power and flexibility that you want to use all the time.
What is not included is the realme X50 Pro 5G wireless charging, which at these prices is initially suspected of not being a good find. Does it matter how fast the charging cable is? The truth is yes, because one technology is not the same as another.
Beautiful cameras, great selfie and more on video development
The realme camera configuration offers nothing revolutionary, we have some excellent camera configurations, such as:
- Rear cameras:
- Main: 64 Mpx 26mm, FOV 78.6 °, f / 1.8, 6P.
- Ultra Wide with Macro: 8 Mpx 15.7mm, FOV 119 °, f / 2.3, 5P lenses, 3cm focus.
- Zoom: 12 Mpx 54.08mm, f / 2,5, x20 hybrid zoom, x2 Optical zoom.
- Monochrome sensor: 2 Mpx FOV 88.8 °, f / 2.4.
- Front cameras:
- Main 32 Mpx FOV 80.4 °, f / 2,5.
- Ultra Wide Angle 8 Mpx FOV 105 °, f / 2.2, 5P.
At the photography level, the realme X50 Pro 5G is compatible, the images offer a great range of colors and details, although we sometimes see that they reinforce other colors like blue or green.
HDR is fully automated, but from the camera app we can choose to stay active, to choose what I recommend, whether or not the default mode determines when to use it.
Since we tried the night mode, it improved a lot, and the fact that in that experience my partner Fernando tried it was never good. Realme has made good use of these months to polish it and we love the current results.
The selfie is excellent, with the opportunity to use a standard camera and ultra wide-angle sensor. The latter provides a noticeable loss of quality for scenes with complex lighting, but often gives a good result. The preview mode works fine.
We like the hybrids 5x to bring it closer, bringing us closer to the scene without any noticeable quality loss.
What we really liked was the automatic shift of the camera to the main mode, and that if we wanted to take a picture in this configuration, just move the cell phone next to the object we wanted to capture and it would automatically switch to macro sensor actions without doing anything. Macro mode is not weird, but it does go well.
The thing I didn't really like about the UI and what I didn't find out until recently was that there is no shortcut for the classic Android camera. Usually, in almost any mobile that respects traditional Android features there are opportunities
Realme UI, great features
Until last year, Realme used Color OS as a customized layer, the layer directly benefiting Oppo, the lead type. In recent months, Realme has wanted to give a layer of new touches and do something they say is closer to Android stock.
- The feeling that OS is really giving me somewhere between Color OS and O oxygen OS, has taken a positive turn in the world. And the fact is that we love it.
- The big screen hasn't yet included Google Discover, but the launcher has improved a lot, getting closer to Android's design lines and improving customization in features such as thumbnail customization.
- Icon customization is the best we've ever seen in a launcher.
- We have the opportunity to choose between buttons, Android 10 body gestures or the classic Color OS touch.
- The thing that is totally unbelievable is the height of the keyboard when you use the touch, and that is that the keyboard sits in a very high position. In the image you can see that the height in each mode is different. It's a small mistake to invent a software, a small detail that has been discarded but not annoying.
- Keyboard comparisons to Google Pixel, where Google adds visual space to counter height.
- Dark mode is fun. Not only will we work and configure it, but we ask the system to force black mode on applications that do not use it. This forced mode doesn't always work, but it's better to have the mode and be able to interpret it than not.
Alternatively, features like twin input mode, game specific mode, good screen recording app, the ability to press and hold down the start button to call Google Assistant, or safer, among many other things like social stock digital.
Regeneration, a feature that should really be reflected in it
Today the realme X50 Pro is being launched on Android 10 with a March 2020 security patch, something that doesn't make us believe, because right now 2 months late. And we can't fault it for not being completely renewed because it hasn't been released yet, but in our experience with the X2 Pro we can see that security updates, despite their frequent appearances, have failed to reach the monthly character.
Today we cannot consider it a weak point of the product right now and they are worth the benefit of the doubt, but if it shows that now is the time to show. If you really want to position yourself among the best Android products, it is not enough to put the best hardware, but you must also prove it with software that is up-to-date.
If we can see, based on recent updates, how the company operates with its previous ownership. Realme X2 and X2 Pro debuted worldwide on Android 10 on March 29, 2020. Android 10 became official on September 3, about 7 months late where at that time it was a mobile site. If there is no change in the realme trend, should we expect Android 11 to arrive in the country by April 2021?
When we look at Oppo, realme's older brother, the stats aren't much better, and will his 2019 mobile phone not update on Android 10 until June 2020? We emphasize that Oppo's renewal policy should not be disclosed by realme, but rather an expression of concern. To compensate, OnePlus (another variant from the BBK Electronics team) has one of the best Android update policies, and it's actually a model to follow.
Realme's biggest challenge for 2020 is not to offer a cheap phone, but to position itself among manufacturers who update their phone in the first 90 days after its official launch. Personally, I think Realme will be promoting its products this year, but I didn't expect it to be. I would love to be wrong, of course.
Very good realme, but not highly recommended
Something we didn't believe in 2020 price increases where many mobile manufacturers are engaged. Products such as Xiaomi or OnePlus that 500 euros have left for different mobiles have raised their price in mobile to 700-800 euros. Realme comes at this price with its large hardware configuration, but its basic version proves to be more competitive than other competitors with the Snapdragon 865 processor (except for models like the Red Magic 5G, a special gaming phone).
However, the days when I tried to test the realme x50 Pro I only thought of the real prodigy of realme, still the X2 Pro. That's $ 200 for the difference (a little less so if you prefer the 256 GB X2 Pro version, which costs 439 euros) for less than a third. The X50 Pro takes better pictures, but the difference is less sad, the X50 Pro has 5G, but today in Spain it doesn't work unless you're from Vodafone and lives in one of the few areas covered in this way (if in your case, cell phones get more points) and the difference working between Snapdragon 855+ and 865 is only visible on benches.
realme X2 Pro, the real cheap high-end.
Choose the latest in power and connectivity if it has a long-term value, but that number doesn't matter if the phone stops receiving updates along the way. Indeed today it lacks the reputation of a review that, for example, OnePlus has proven to have, and that makes paying extra cash for a long-term view is a risky bet.
If you want high performance, good multimedia performance, good battery and a decent set of cameras, the realme X50 Pro won't disappoint you, because it meets all the technical aspects.
