MagSafe is one of the things I miss the most on my Android mobile. I have an ecosystem of MagSafe accessories and chargers at home but that’s no use when I’m using the review phones or my Vivo X80 Pro and although there are brands like Realme that have tried to create a MagSafe for Android, it seems that the system has not quite caught on.
However, while looking for cases for an iPhone, I came across one that allowed the use of MagSafe accessories on an iPhone X, a mobile that is not compatible with this technology. So I dived into the store and found a ring that turns any Android phone into a MagSafe compatible phone. And it works very well.

I had no idea, but there really are plenty of cases out there that allow iPhones older than 12 (which is the first to feature the MagSafe magnetic system) to be compatible with these accessories. However, there are not only covers, but also adapters.
Basically, they are metal rings or systems that have a very thin thickness and surround wireless charging coilthey therefore allow a magnetic system to adhere to the back without the mobile losing its wireless charging capacity.
Here The main thing, of course, is that your phone has wireless charging.. I say that which seems silly, but it is always better that things are as clear as possible. Of all the adapters, I opted for a simple one, the ESR for around 14 dollars, although there is a pack of two units for 12 dollars.
The reason is that it’s a brand I know for, specifically, a MagSafe charger for the car and it came with four rings, great for several phones I have at home. And wow, for that money I jumped in to try.
On the web they specify that it is compatible with the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22, as well as the latest iPhones, but that does not scare you because, as I said, if your phone has wireless charging, you can easily use one of these. Now something important is the cover.
And it is that, it cannot be made of silicone, metal or glass, since they would not allow wireless charging (in the case of those made of metal) or the adapter ring would adhere strongly. Must be polycarbonate or TPU cases without anti-fingerprint coating (because they would also prevent the adhesive from adhering).
Well, with that said, let’s get down to business. In the box, in addition to the four rings (two silver and two black), there is a guide to locate the charging ring on different iPhone models and the latest Samsung. If your mobile is not one of them, you can skip this guide. also comes a piece of plastic that helps align this guide so that the MagSafe magnets stay in the best possible way.
Since my mobile is not one of them, I located the charging coil. For that, I recommend that you search YouTube for something like “Vivo X80 Pro demolish“ (Presentation of your model, of course). This way you will be able to see where this part is located in your terminal. In the case of Vivo, it sits just below the huge camera module.
SO, I cleaned the area well with the included wipesI put the template on it so that it was as straight as possible and, directly on the glass back, I glued the ring. I let it dry for a few minutes and… everything is fine. The truth is that the first reaction was surprise because I could use my MagSafe chargers and even Apple’s MagSafe wallet with no problem.
Now, as I’m very clever and I started from the instructions, stick the ring directly on the glass (which, moreover, is not smooth, it has a texture), when i tested the system on a desktop charger and disassembled the phone the ring came off. So yes, don’t stick it on the glass, listen to the manufacturer because of the four, I lost a ring.
But hey, for the sake of science, and to enjoy my purchase, I glued another ring on a case with a plastic back and the result is excellent. Now that I have a MagSafe-enabled Android, the adhesive on the plastic stays extremely well, and I’m going to be able to take much better advantage of the ecosystem of chargers I already had at home when using the iPhone or Android.
If the bug bites you and you dare to try it on your Android mobile, but you don’t really know if you would benefit from the system, I recommend a “backpack” battery. They usually have 5000 mAh or more, charge the mobile wirelessly and are perfect for weekends away from home. And no, I do not recommend Apple. That, precisely… no.
