After the leak of the Google Pixel 9 Pro, it is now the turn of the basic Google Pixel 9; but that’s not the only news brought by the latest leak. The reader of EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre will remember that the Pixel 9 has already been leaked; but now, the leaker claims that he was wrong, because the Pixel range will completely change.
It is already tradition that Google launches its new range of smartphones during the second half of the year, and that it is made up of two devices; a basic model and a “Pro” model. A few months later, a third model was launched, from the “a” range with a lower price. The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro as well as the upcoming Google Pixel 8a are demonstrations of this strategy.
But things could change in 2024. For the first time since the launch of the Pixel 5, The range would have an “XL” model, which as its name suggests, would have a larger screen than the others. To understand this new feature, we must remember that the Pixel 9 range will be completely different from the current one.
Google Pixel 9, with three models
And the Google Pixel 9 will release a completely new design. Since the Pixel 6, all Google phones have followed the same design lines, with barely perceptible differences in the now famous camera “band” and in the colors chosen.
This will change with the next generation. The Pixel 9 will adopt a new design with flat edges, more similar to those of the new Samsung Galaxy 24 and the latest iPhone. This is something we already knew thanks to the Pixel 9 Pro leak and the new Pixel 9 Core leak posted on 91Mobiles
However, this design change brings a change in the size of the screens. The Pixel 9 Pro would have a screen of only 6.1 inches, compared to the 6.7 inches of the Pixel 8 Pro; in fact, it would be even smaller than the base Pixel 8 and its 6.2 inches. For its part, the Pixel 9 leaked today would have a 6.03-inch screen, a little smaller and with rounded corners that would also reduce the usable space, although the size of the mobile phone would be identical to that of the Pixel 9Pro.
It’s a decision that will likely be controversial; Many users missed the small screens, but no one knows that large screens are more popular. Not long ago, one of the biggest advocates of small screens, ASUS, had to give in and launched the new ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra with a 6.78-inch screen.
To compensate, Google would offer a new model, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL; Although its screen size hasn’t been confirmed, it should be similar to the 6.7 inches of the current Pixel 8 Pro.
In other words, Google will copy Apple’s iPhone range, with a “Max” model which will be called “XL” in the case of the Pixel. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will be virtually the same in terms of size, differing only in cameras and small details like with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro; and for those who want large screens, it will offer the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the equivalent of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
