We didn’t realize it, but the word “Ultra” has come to Apple to stick. It started with the M1 Ultra chip and took it to the next level with the Apple Watch Ultra. And if we see the iPhone 15 rumors, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an ‘iPhone 15 Ultra’ in stores next year. And of course, with all this pushing, there’s no reason not to believe in see other Apple products receiving an “Ultra” model in their lineups. Let’s see what products it can be.
If it exists, it may be Ultra
We can start with the most probable, which is a M2 Ultra chip. It’s pretty obvious that if the M1 Ultra already exists we’re going to see an M2 Ultra, probably working inside the next Mac Pro, but if we mix up the already rumored stuff with a bit of imagination, we can think of more things:
- And ‘iPad Ultra‘ that goes beyond the current iPad Pro. There are rumors of a future generation of iPad Pro which speaks of a model with a 14 or 15 inch screen on which the name “Ultra” would fit.
- AndHomePod Ultra‘ could be the perfect name for a large speaker, similar to the obsolete iPad Hi-Fi, but which brings together functions typical of the current years with much more sonic power. It could be for sound studios, for example.
- Can we fit a ‘Macbook Ultra‘? It’s already further away, but we could speak of a model over 16 inches looking to carry an M1/M2 Ultra inside. A Mac Studio made portable.
We can see some new product with this qualifier: If Apple considers the name ‘Reality’ for its viewer, there is no obstacle to having an ultra model for those who seek the highest quality.
You also need to think about the names that sound the worst: a “Mac Ultra” wouldn’t make much sense if we already have the Mac Pro, and the same can happen if we think of some “AirPods Ultra” if we already have AirPods Max which is Apple’s maximum expression for portable sound. Well, I’m not talking about a better AirTag Ultra because that’s nonsense.
But something tells me that even with that, we haven’t seen the end of the word “Ultra” on Apple’s release schedule. I just hope that there will be no disputes with a certain Spanish brand of detergents.
