The diversity of Mac computers and their applications is questionable. There are many programs we can use to customize our computer as we please. Today we'll see how to install a folder with apps recently opened in Dock from our Mac for easy and comfortable access.

Some time ago, with versions before macOS Catalina, there was a way to add the latest apps to Dock on the Internet. With Catalina this approach has stopped working, however, thanks to the flexibility of macOS, we can end up getting the same result in a different way.

The steps, in a sense, are as follows: first we will create a smart folder which shows the applications we have just opened, and then we will add this folder layout and in step 3 we will configure this folder individually options that we exist. Let's go there:

1. We open the app Finder.
2. We're adding a folder Applications or press Command (⌘) + Shift (⇧) + A.
3. We use the search engine at the top right to search for something, because now we will write only one book.
4. We touch "Applications" right Search: for searches only in this folder.
5. Press "+" to the right of Save.
6. We touch Sec and we choose them Last open day.
7. We touch finally and we choose them today.
8. In the search box we remove the letter we would write and leave it blank.
9. We're pressing Save.
10. We write a word, for example Recent apps.
11. We're pressing Save.

OK So far we have created a smart folder that shows us all the apps we open all day "today". If we want we can choose this week in step 7, no matter how we use it, we can end up with so many apps in the folder. In Step 8 it is important that we manually remove the desired content without touching the small "x" from the right.

After step 11 we will see that it appears automatically in the sidebar Finder our folder. Now what we will do add this folder to our Document. Simply put, we just drag a folder to Dock.

When you drag it, it is important that we do it in the correct section of the Doc. That is, to the left of the trash is to the left of the last vertical split. The recommended place is this left of folder Download.

Once we have a smart folder in our Dock, there are many options we are able to prepare for its appearance. We will reach them all by sending (second) by clicking on the Dock folder. Let's take a look at what options are offered:

• Sort by: it gives us a choice between Name, Date of conversion, Date of creation either Last open. All in all Last open it will be a very useful option.
• Show as: we can choose between Folder either Stack. If we choose Stack We'll see different apps appear in order, if we choose Folder We will see an icon of the filler cabinet.
• View content as: when we find out Fan, Get started, List either By default. Optional the default overlaps between the last three depending on the number of items in the folder. Fan, the voice either list It introduces different details and has become a matter of personal taste. Remember that option Fan no matter the number of objects, it will teach us a total of 10 objects.

Once we have selected our preferences, the folder will be ready to allow us instant access to the latest applications. It should be mentioned that in the Finder bar the folder continues to appear. If we want we can leave it there, and if we want to get it out, anyway Drag out of case, wait for the little "x" to appear next to your name and deliver. The Dock folder will always be in place.

And it's easy. Thanks to a good search we can easily access our latest apps from Dock. And when we update over Catalina? We can say that a good search will continue with us for a long time. Hopefully this program will work for several years.
