YouTube is change the way you serve ads at the start of the Android app’s videos, a change that generated negative comments from users but which, fortunately, is not as bad as it seems.
The “Skip” ad button appears to disappear from the YouTube app for Android, but only for a few seconds. The company has already clarified the situation: the button to skip longer advertisements has not been removed from the applicationit simply changed the way it operated.
If you don’t see the “Skip” button for a YouTube ad, don’t worry: you can always unsee the ad.
YouTube is in the middle of a fierce battle with ad blockers, making them increasingly difficult to use. Now, the platform is changing the way it displays ads in the Android app, hiding the button to “skip” ads for the first few seconds of their duration.
Until now, when you broadcast a video on YouTube and an ad starts, you clearly see the button to skip the ad and a timer: when the first 5 seconds of the ad pass, is it possible to ignore it and watch the video.
The company is changing the interface by showing ads at the beginning of videos, which, as a report from Android Police mentions, can make it seem like it’s no longer possible to skip the ad, since the button seems to have disappeared, but that is not the case. It’s like this: it’s always possible to skip advertising, the difference is that. the button will only appear on the screen after the first five seconds
In the previous images we can see what the new interface for ads looks like. In the newest design, the “Skip” button with the five-second timer no longer appears, but instead we can only see a progress bar yellow and, once its duration is over, the “Skip” button will appear.
Google, in statements to Android Police, clarified the change in the ads interface:
“For skippable ads, the button appears after 5 seconds of playback, as always. Both mobile and desktop users will see the countdown. now appears as a progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
Beyond this change, there is no doubt that YouTube is changing the way it displays ads to users who are not subscribed to YouTube Premium. For example, the company recently started experimenting with showing ads when we pause videos in the Smart TV app.
