Google's commitment to Android Auto is evident, with the release of a large number of updates over the past couple of years. Every month it is common to find at least two new versions of Android Auto, and that is why it has already reached version 13.3 a few days ago.
However, this accelerated development poses more problems than usual for a Google product. It is common for new versions of Android Auto to come with “bugs” of varying severity; In some cases, these are simple annoyances, but in other cases, they prevent Android Auto from working or affect one of the basic functions such as calls. But the “bug” users are currently experiencing takes the cake, being one of the strangest we've seen so far.
The problem occurs with the WhatsApp app, which is compatible with Android Auto; In fact, it allows you to send and receive messages from the car, without having to use the touch screen thanks to the voice recognition and generation function. By simply giving an order we can make Android Auto reads WhatsApp messages through the speakers, so you don't miss anything important.
However, in recent days Android Auto has decided add the phrase “oh” to the end of WhatsApp messages; Indeed, the system is able to read the message without problem, but at the end it always puts this expression “oh”, as if it was surprised, or as if it had remembered something at the end. But once they check the text of the received message, users see that this “oh” is not found, and the Android Auto voice inserted it by itself.
It is about one of the strangest and comical problems Android Auto has encountered so far, even if it is not by far the most serious; While it's true that that “oh” can be a distraction, at least the message is reproduced correctly. This nevertheless remains a nuisance and a curiosity.
As of this writing, the cause of this error is still unclear. It is possible that the “culprit” is WhatsApp, given that the failure only occurs when we use this application to read messages; messages in other applications do not reproduce this expression at the end. However, This is more of a Google Assistant bugthe part of Android Auto responsible for interpreting and reading messages. As usual, Google hasn't made any public statement on the matter, so it's unclear if the company is working on a fix for the bug, or even if it's aware of its existence.
